MANILA, Philippines – Former Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar promised fellow giant Alistair Overeem a rude welcome in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
“It's an honor for me to get in the Octagon to kick his ass,” the 6’3”, 265-pound Lesnar said in UFC.com.
The British-Dutch Overeem, former Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion, Dream Interim Heavyweight Champion, and K-1 World Grand Prix Champion, recently signed with UFC.
He is scheduled for a three-round battle against Lesnar in UFC 141.
“This is my home. The UFC is Brock Lesnar,” said Lesnar. “I don't care how many fights he's had, I don't care where he's been, this is my time, this is my house.”
Overeem said he is grateful for being included in UFC's heavyweight roster.
"I've very happy, I'm very proud to join the UFC family," he said.
The 6'5" striker added that he will have an easy time beating Lesnar, who is relatively a newbie in MMA with a record of 5-2.
"Experience advantage [over Lesnar]? Yes I do [have]. About 10 times as much," said Overeem.
Overeem boasts of an MMA record of 35 wins, 11 losses and 1 draw.
"I wanna tear this guy apart. Piece by piece," he said of Lesnar.
